Lock them up

I'd be happy if all the drug users and drug pushers who are presently serving exorbitant sentences under federal sentencing rules were released and all of the freed up beds were given to sex offenders who would be locked up for the remainder of their natural lives.

You can get off of drugs, but there's something in the mind of a sex offender that prevents them from being “rehabilitated” in prison. I've heard too many cases recently of “released sex offenders” committing crimes even more horrendous than the crimes that got them convicted in the first place. This is a travesty against society. We should change it.

another idea to be discarded

“At the very least, sitting Zen practice, called zazen, will bring about a strong sense of well-being, as the clutter of ideas and emotions falls away and body and mind return to natural harmony with all creation. Out of this emptiness can come a true insight into the nature of existence, which is no different from one’s Buddha nature. To travel this path, one need not be a ‘Zen Buddhist,’ which is only another idea to be discarded, like ‘enlightenment’ and ‘the Buddha’ and like ‘God.’
~ Peter Matthiessen
