I saw that in the news and thought of you. That’s insane.
My boss says the industry is down something like 17% in revenue overall. Our newspaper (the one I work for) is down 4%.
=/
I blame the internets.
While it always sucks to let go of institutions we’ve grown up with, isn’t it really about time to admit that newspapers, like most physical media, are going the way of the dodo? I’m reminded of Neil Gaiman’s brilliant synopsis of Sandman: “The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision.” Our physical media industries are choosing to die, clinging literally like grim death to outdated and impossible business models.
Aye, sir. You speak the truth.
