As it was on the farm, hard work became it's own reward. The rains don't always come when needed, or stop when wanted, and don't even get me started on the livestock. But if, at the end of the day, you are so famished so as to appreciate the humblest meal, and so tired that you sleep the whole night through, well, then you figure you earned that much peace and comfort, and from it gain enough strength to take on another dawn.
