The sweet smell of honeysuckle

The first blooms of honeysuckle are the most fragrant in the late Spring. This I found out tonight as I walked outside after putting the boys to bed to put some trash in the bin. The sweet smell of honeysuckle is drifting across our entire back yard, and it is good.

the wind whispering among the reeds

I want to go soon and live away by the pond, where I shall hear only the wind whispering among the reeds. It till be a success if I shall have left myself behind.

The President’s Challenge

I just signed up on The President’s Challenge web site. I thought it might give me some incentive to keep up my running for a couple of weeks anyway. Last night I went back to my soy milk-banana-strawberry smoothie for dinner. I’ve got to loose some weight. I had to buy some more work pants yesterday in a bigger size because my waist has gotten out of control.

I don’t have the faintest idea what my purpose is or what’s going on

I must confess that I don’t have the faintest idea what my purpose is or what’s going on, and I never have. I became comfortable with that mystery a long time ago–that I would never know how any of these things fit together in any explicit way.

In Good Company

We watched In Good Company last night. Sweet little movie. Nothing too deep about it - just a nice diversionary story. A few poignant thoughts did flow through my mind as I watched though. A recurring theme in “good” stories is how each of our lives is like a sphere of influence. Some of them are bigger than others, others have more power even though they are smaller. And the magic happens when the spheres overlap, and the sadness (sometimes) happens when the overlapping stops and the spheres that were once connected are isolated once again.

Scarlett Johansson is easy on the eyes too. ;)
